Tuesday Preview - Canadian Quilt Talk Episode # 65

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

My special guest on this week's show is Cheryl Arkison and we'll be talking all about how she got started, her wonderful modern quilting books and what she's been up to lately.

CQT Episode #65 - Modern Quilting with Cheryl Arkison
And you've probably guessed it - if I'm interviewing Cheryl, then we will definitely be talking about modern quilting! Cheryl is a talented Canadian writer, quilt designer, and teacher. If you check out her shop on Etsy - Cheryl Arkison Quilts you just might guess that my favourite pattern is called Oh Canada!

Oh Canada Quilt Pattern by Cheryl Arkison
I would characterize her quilts as modern and scrappy with a refreshing take on using up your stash with improvisational piecing. She is published everywhere in quilting and eating magazines, blogs and books, so listen in this Thursday to hear all about it! Her newest book is coming soon called You Inspire me to Quilt.

This week I'll also be talking about the SNOWFLAKES Postcard Challenge that is well underway, the CQA Trend-Tex Challenge and more...

And here's the winner of this week's Quilter's Corner - Michele Timms! Congrats Michele, you have won the book A Month of Sundays and a little bit of gorgeous fabric to go with it by Cheryl Arkison.

It was so fun to interview Cheryl Arkison. It's always a thrill to meet cool Canadian Quilters, plus the huge bonus of getting to give away one of her wonderful books. I was thrilled!

So join me this Thursday at 4pm Pacific time to meet Cheryl Arkison and get a glimpse of a day in the life of a great Canadian Quilter.

Welcome to Blogathon Canada!

Welcome to the Explore Fibre Blog for
Blogathon Canada!

I'm so glad you decided to hop on the Blogathon to do some exploring! There are so many amazing talents across Canada. It's a great chance to connect.

ABOUT ME: I live in the Sunny Okanagan with my husband and 12 year old son. I am a fibre artist, quilter, teacher, speaker, quilt judge and the host of Canadian Quilt Talk. I have so much fun with my Talk Show and it's all free, all the time for quilters to listen to on a walk, in the car, or best of all in their quilting studio! For a peek at the type of quilting I love to do VIEW MY GALLERY HERE

Order Kristy's Quilt today in plenty of time for Christmas.

I am also the author of Kristy's Quilt. Do you have a little one in your family who would love to snuggle up with a bedtime story with you over the holidays? Why not give them a glimpse into your passion for quilting at the same time! The aim of Kristy's Quilt is to share the heritage of quilting a child. For just $25 it can be delivered anywhere in Canada.

AND MY BIG EVENT going on right now is a worldwide postcard exchange. You can sign up for the CQT SNOWFLAKES POSTCARD EXCHANGE from now until Nov. 22nd. It's free to join, a great way to explore a new technique and best of all you could make a new friend. TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS - your only cost is the postage to somewhere in the world and it's so much fun to receive a postcard from your new pen pal over the holidays.

Thank you so much for swinging by for a visit. Be sure to sign up to follow the Explore Fibre Blog in the right hand column. You can also find me on Facebook/CanadianQuiltTalk, on Twitter @ExploreFibre and on Pinterest - Brandy Maslowski. And the best way to keep up to date on everything that's going on with me is to sign up for the Brandy Lynn Designs monthly newsletter by joining our mailing list in the right hand column.

Tuesday Preview - CQT Episode # 64

Canadian Quilt Talk Episode 064 - Blogathon Canada!

This week on Canadian Quilt Talk I interview the owner of Sew Sisters Quilt Shop - Judy Baldwin and her marketing staff  - Carol Richard. I just had to track them down to chat about an upcoming event that's creating a bit of buzz on the Canadian Quilt Scene - it's the Sew Sisters Quilt Shop 3rd annual Blogathon Canada

Blogathon Canada is back!
Tune in this Thursday at 4pm Pacific time to learn all about what a Blogathon is and how you can join in on the fun. But here's a little preview...you'll learn how to find great Canadian Quilting Bloggers, be inspired by their beautiful creations, and have a chance to win prizes galore.

Judy Baldwin - Owner Sew Sisters Quilt Shop
A simple project - her very first I SPY quilt - inspired Judy Baldwin to start an online quilt shop with her sister Karen in Ontario almost 14 years ago and it has blossomed into a thriving business, both online and at the bricks and mortar quilt shop in Toronto, Ontario. They do so much for the customer with special events, clearance items, low shipping costs, prize giveaways and more so be sure to check them out at www.sew-sisters.com

AND NOW THE WINNER of our Quilter's Corner segment - Gina Glennon! Her story is about giving up her sewing room when her mom had to move in - heartwarming, sweet and with a happy ending! CONGRATULATIONS Gina! You have won a $25 gift certificate to shop online at Sew Sisters Quilt Shop. Thanks for the Quilter's Corner submission!
As always, at the end of this week's episode, I offer up MY TWO STITCHES on the topic of joining in on a Blogathon. Don't miss this annual event. It will be loads of fun.

Until next time . . . dream big and work hard in the studio with CanadianQuilt Talk!
