A Gorgeous iPhone 4 case

Have I told you all about this great deal I found on eBay? It's called a "Luxury Quilted Leather Chrome Case" but I'll tell you right off the bat, it's a plastic faux leather case for decoration only, but I love mine. I was searching around for a new iPhone case and came across this quilted one for so cheap I thought it was too good to be true. Especially since the shipping was free.

The grand total came to $2.98 CDN including shipping! I double checked that it said iPhone 4S which is the one I have and that it shipped to Canada, which is where I live and it all seemed good. So I just clicked on BUY IT NOW to see what would happen.

What's the catch? Well, it took about 22 days to ship, but for FREE? I could handle that and when it arrived I was quite happy. I ordered red and I love it. Another thing I didn't realize was that it is just plastic, not chrome as it states in the description, and it's some kind of faux leather or vinyl, but it still looks very nice. Also, I have dropped it once and it is not a protective cover by any means. I was lucky that my phone didn't crack. The silver plastic case cracked slightly, but is hardly noticeable.

So I have ordered 2 more in black and blue pictured so I can change them as I wish and since I cracked the red one I figure it will not last forever. Here's the link if you want to give it a try. I still have to say though that when I read through the ratings for this seller they were great, but any complaints were all about shipping problems. So there is a small risk.

I'll let you know when my next 2 cases arrive in 3 weeks. LOL. If you want to give it a try here's the link to the eBay seller. It's not an auction - just an eBay store, so you can buy it any time.

Just another quilty thing that I love!

My Stellar Students!

I had so much fun today teaching the Bijoux Landscapes Workshop. The technical side of things is going so well now in the webinars and I am learning more each month. And, as always, I invite my students to send me photos of their finished pieces. They often start trickling into my inbox a few days, weeks or even months later depending on the size of the project. But once in a while I get a student who must finish what they start before they start something else, and with grand style! Sometimes I wish I had that personal standard.

Here's the first picture sent in today already by Thelma Newbury of Surrey, BC and she has done a great job. Her hand turned appliqué rolling hills are featured in a complimentary green/purple colour scheme and look so sweet in the little oval matte. I love the shimmering sun feature and the grassy fibres with the tiniest little stitched trees on the mountain. Great job Thelma!

Episode 032 Canadian Quilt Talk - Valentine Special

Tune in this week for 10 last minute ideas for quilty Valentine's gifts for you kids, your friends, or your spouse. And don't miss the big launch of the Kristy's Quilt project!

Check out this episode!

THE BIG LAUNCH - Kristy's Quilt

Well, I'm not sure whether I've even slept these past few days, but the campaign is set up, the guest blogs are written, the newspaper article comes out today, the radio spots are queued, the Valentine's podcast is out and I'm about to hit the Kristy's Quilt Kickstarter LAUNCH button at midnight tonight!

So many of you have been following along and patiently waiting and I thank you so much for your encouragement and support! Whether you are a midnight owl, or an early morning riser, you can log in to KICKSTARTER after midnight to get the early bird backer special for $20 and help us build some momentum to reach our goal. Funds from the backers will go to pay for the illustrator and production costs like layout, cover design, printing, shipping and other backer rewards.

The entire goal of this project is to get Kristy's Quilt into the hands and hearts of children everywhere. Some say quilting is an old time pastime, but I disagree. We can share quilting with a younger generation so they appreciate the effort that goes into making a quilt and we can open the door to emerging young quilters for years to come. Back the project and share your love of quilting with a child today…anytime after midnight that is!

Go to KICKSTARTER and search Kristy's Quilt after midnight tonight. The campaign runs for one month starting on Feb. 14th and ends on March 15th at midnight Pacific time.

For more information about the Kristy's Quilt project right now, you can check out the Tuesday Preview Kristy's Quilt blog post, or the Kristy's Quilt Podcast episode # 27.

I'll explore 10 last minute Valentine's gifts for your husbands, your kids and your friends. I have so much fun with holiday themes, and this week is no exception. Thank you so much to every single one of you who have sent me emails, messages and told me in person that you can't wait to back the project to get your copy of the book. And some of you are not even quilters so that just tells me that everyone loves a heartwarming bedtime story.

Kristy's Quilt Book Cover!
Here is the debut of the cover design and I hope you are all getting as excited about it as I am. My goal is to publish the book and get it into the hands of children to share quilting with a younger generation. Not to mention you'll be sharing a bedtime story with someone you love. CQT 31 - Mito Quilts of Hope

This week's podcast episode is all about the Mito Quilts of Hope project founded by Christine Knox. The purpose of the “Quilts of Hope” project is to raise public awareness of Mitochondrial Disease by educating talented quilters about the disease through a project that results in wonderful quilts for patients.

They are challenging quilters to take on a "green" theme to symbolize the disease. You can register and find all of the guidelines on the Mito Quilts of Hope website

This heartwarming project has attracted the attention of a documentary filmmaker Brian Barnard who will be launching an Indiegogo campaign to fund the film called More Faces of Mitochondrial Disease in the spring.
And there's a great support project coming up for Mitochondrial awareness as well!

Have you ever had the notion that you would like to just stay in bed all day? Well Mito Canada is having a Stay in Bed Day Fundraising Campaign

"Stay in Bed and don’t feel guilty. No, we are not kidding. We want you to stay in bed and it’s all for a worthy cause – to raise funds for research into mitochondrial disease. “Mito” is an incurable, debilitating disease that robs the body’s cells of energy and can lead to multiple organ dysfunction or failure and potentially death.

How long you spend in bed is up to you. You collect pledges to support MitoCanada while you rest and relax, cuddle up with a good book, watch a movie or talk on the phone to someone special. Or maybe you do the opposite and organize a pyjama party with friends, enjoy breakfast and later a movie. Hold a bed relay so the bed is never empty! The ideas are endless.
Contact MitoCanada for your opportunity to join thousands of others during February and March 2014 and Stay in Bed!"
You can make a quilt, stay in bed, make a donation, or simply get educated about mitochondrial disease and spread the word.
Talk to you Thursday!
